President Trump was off and running this morning to point out more of what is wrong with our existing immigration system. From what we now know, the man who carried out the ISIS-inspired terror attack in New York City yesterday arrived here in 2010 under the “Diversity Visa Lottery Program.” The President wasted no time in pointing out where this program came from and reiterated the need for smarter, more secure immigration policies.
The President stated the need for a merit-based system, where people are only admitted if they posses skills which will help our society, not be a drain on it:
More background on the program and Sen. Churck Schumer’s sponsorship of it from The Hill:
Schumer’s sponsorship of the program also came up during a “Fox & Friends” interview with Sebastian Gorka, a former White House adviser.
Trump’s tweets come less than a day after Sayfullo Saipov allegedly mowed down numerous people with a truck on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, killing eight individuals.
ABC7 in New York reported that Saipov was allowed into the U.S. from Uzbekistan through the program.
Various conservative commentators have seized on the report, and have laid blame on Schumer, who played an important role in the program’s conception in the 1990s.
The program offers visas to people from countries that have relatively few immigrants to the U.S.
Once again we see the dangers of allowing immigration based on “diversity” and “inclusiveness” rather than based on what is best for American citizens. Our immigration policies should exist to serve our country, and our citizens, and no one else. How can it possibly be that we’re called “racist” or “insensitive” if we should try to keep the vermin like this off our shores? This Islamist ran a Home Depot truck into school bus in a direct attempt to murder children.
